Some Like It Hot

Hi people I hope everyone are doing great and planned for a best weekend. For me best weekend = best beer + best movie. These days I am watching quite a good number of good movies with my buddy Vyas. It is a very rare that you find a friend with similar taste in movies and also beers! After watching some good foreign movies..I am back to hollywood in search of good classics...and found this wonderful flick called "Some Like It Hot". So people lets dont waste the precious time and lets get HOOOOOOOT...

Two struggling musicians, Joe and Jerry (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon), witness the Saint Valentine's Day massacre of 1929. When the Chicago gangsters, led by "Spats" Colombo (George Raft), see them, the two flee for their lives. They escape and decide to leave town, taking a job that requires them to disguise themselves as women, playing in an all-girl musical band headed to Florida. Calling themselves Josephine and Geraldine (later Jerry changes his pseudonym to Daphne), they join the band and board a train. Joe and Jerry both become enamored of "Sugar Kane" (Marilyn Monroe), the band's vocalist and ukulele player, and struggle for her affection while maintaining their disguises. In Florida, Joe woos Sugar by assuming a second disguise as a millionaire named "Junior", the heir to Shell Oil, while mimicking Cary Grant's voice. An actual millionaire, Osgood Fielding III (Joe E. Brown), becomes enamored of Jerry in his Daphne guise. One night Osgood asks Daphne out to his yacht. Joe convinces Daphne to keep Osgood ashore while he goes on the yacht with Sugar. That night Osgood proposes to Daphne who, in a state of excitement, accepts, believing he can receive a large settlement from Osgood immediately following their wedding ceremony.

hahahahahaha!!! very interesting....what happens next, will our Daphne and Osgood gets married?? what happens to our love birds Joe and Sugar...will Joe ever reveal his real identity?? to know all these secrets you have to pick this flick.

As per vish:- Its been long time since I watched man turned women comedy as I felt bored with all those slap stick desi comedies. But somehow I picked this one just to see Marilyn Monroe (yes, Some Like It Hot...and I absolutely do). But I fell in love with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon/Joe and Jerry/Josephine and Geraldine/Junior and Daphne! hahaha. Just imagine one actor playing 3 characters..very interesting and confusing too. Especially Jack Lemmon as Jerry/Josephine and Daphne has done such an impeccable action that you will never stop laughing till "The End". I highly recommend this movie for all kinds of movie lovers and I am pretty sure that you fall in love with all the characters. So, people have a nice fun filled weekend with this movie :)

Duck Soup

Hi people I hope everyone having and I am trying my best to triple your happiness by posting this review on the best funniest movie I have ever seen in the recent times. Yesterday I bought a new watch...speaking technically it is not just a watch...it is called IPod Nano with watch stripe/band. So, it looks like a watch but not only a watch...it can store 8GB of music + photos(though 16GB is max) and can play songs from your favourite FM. Okie...enough of Nano lets start our entertainment...and lets get back to the future! lol As I told you earlier today I am going to tripe your happiness with this funniest movie called "Duck Soup". So, lets start sipping it...

The wealthy Mrs. Teasdale (Margaret Dumont) insists that Rufus T. Firefly (Groucho Marx) be appointed leader of the small, bankrupt country of Freedonia before she will continue to provide much-needed financial assistance. Meanwhile, neighboring Sylvania is attempting to take over the country. Sylvanian ambassador Trentino (Louis Calhern) tries to foment a revolution, woos Mrs. Teasdale, and attempts to dig up dirt on Firefly by sending in spies Chicolini (Chico Marx) and Pinky (Harpo Marx).

After failing to collect worthwhile information about Firefly, Chicolini and Pinky infiltrate the government when Chicolini is appointed Secretary of War after Firefly sees him on the street selling peanuts. Meanwhile, Firefly's personal assistant, Bob Roland (Zeppo Marx) suspects Trentino's questionable motives, and counsels Firefly to "get rid of that man at once" by saying "something to make him mad, and he'll strike you, and we'll force him to leave the country." Firefly agrees to the plan, but after a series of personal insults exchanged between Firefly and Trentino, the plan backfires and Firefly slaps Trentino instead. As a result, the two countries reach the brink of war. Adding to the international friction is the fact that Firefly is also wooing Mrs. Teasdale, and likewise hoping to get his hands on her late husband's fortune.

Trentino learns that Freedonia's war plans are in Mrs. Teasdale's possession and orders Chicolini and Pinky to steal them. Chicolini is caught by Firefly and put on trial, during which war is officially declared, and everyone is overcome by war frenzy, breaking into song and dance. The trial put aside, Chicolini and Pinky join Firefly and Bob Roland in anarchic battle, resulting in general mayhem.

Though this is a fictional story it also works like a satire on political system. Every dialogue is funny and every action will tickle your funny bone...most of the time you will be ROFL. I dont know anything about this movie till yesterday...but after watching it all I can say is "THE FUNNIEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER WATCHED".

As per Vish:- , If you find reasons to miss or criticize this flick...then you are making biggest mistake. Hence, Nothing doing...watch it watch it watch it!

The Return of the Pink Panther

Do you want to see a perfect classic comedy this one is the best for you then.

This movie has Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau who investigates for the pink panther which was lost in a Lugash. He leaves to that country to investigate the case and the only clue he finds is a white glove monogrammed with a "P," the emblem of the Phantom. As he proceeds in his investigation he comes to know that it is Charles Lytton who is phanthom and the one who stole the panther. Clouseau survives several times being murdered by an unknown assassin during his investigation. How ever at the end Clouseau finds out the theif and gets promoted to Chief Inspector.

The way Clouseau investigates the case is as funny as ever. Peter really rules that character. The way he survives life is well picturised. The way he behaves as telephone repairman in Lady lytton's home is the best and the way he cleans the floor in Lady Lytton's suite room is one of the highlight of the whole movie. The moment Peter comes on the screen you can expect the best scene.

As per vish: If you want to have a cool weekend with the best classic comedy I refer this movie. This movie reminds you telugu movies like Nirnayam & Chantabbai.

Running time: 113 minutes
Directed by: Blake Edwards
Other casts: Christopher Plummer as Charles Lytton, Catherine Schell as Lady Lytton, Herbert Lom as Cheif Inspector Charles Dreyfus, Peter Arne as Sharky.
