The Blind Side

Hello people a very good morning to you all. I sincerely apologize for not updating my blog from quite a few weeks as the internet connection in my room went off. Its been more than two weeks since I was unable to browse from my house. However it seems now everything is fine :) today I came up with yet another Academy Award winner called 'The Blind Side' which made 'Sandra Bullock' proud by making her Best Actress of this year. So, lets see what made this movie to win such a big honor....

For 17 years, Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) has been in foster care with different families. Every time he is sent to a new home, he runs away. One of his friend's fathers, whose couch Mike had been sleeping on, enrolls him into a Christian school, after the father convinces the coach that "Big Mike" is a natural athlete, yet he refuses to beat people to the ground. The coach convinces the school principal to enroll him into the school. After school one day, Michael meets Sean "SJ" Jr. (Jae Head), who quickly befriends Michael. Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) is a fiery interior designer, mother to SJ and Collins (Lily Collins), and wife to Sean Tuohy (Tim McGraw). After a pre-holiday Thanksgiving school festival, Leigh Anne notices Michael walking on the road, shivering in the freezing cold; she pities his situation and offers him a place to spend the night. The next morning, much to her dismay, she finds Michael leaving their driveway and asks him to spend Thanksgiving with her family. Slowly, Michael starts becoming a part of the Tuohy family, even as Leigh Anne's friends warn her that Michael could affect SJ and Collins' social life. Nonetheless, SJ and Michael become buddies. Leigh Anne goes to the school about Michael's academic performance and is surprised to learn that even though he has scored low in essentially every aspect, he scored in the 98th percentile in 'protective instincts.' Sean also takes to Michael and lists the Tuohys as his emergency contact and talks to the school coach to get Michael enrolled in the football team.

hmmm thats nice...what happens next?? will everything goes well with the selection?? are he still needs to complete few pre-requisites?? will he stay back with the family which offered life to him??? to know all these secrets you have to pick this DVD.

As per Vish: This movie became the most controversial in the Academy Awards when they first released the final list of 'Best Movie Categories' as most of the critics pointed that there are several movies which deserve that entry more than this flick. But no body commented on 'Sandra Bullock's' performance as she is very natural as filthy rich lady yet with a sensitive heart. Overall this movie never disappoints you and you can have a nice time viewing this real story :)

Rudy

Hello people it seems this week has come very fast....just same time last week I was enjoying vacation in Guntur. I had some memorable things to say about my last week's trip to Guntur and Bapatla. On last Friday evening I left to Guntur by the time I reached destination it was around 22:00hrs so my friend/cousin Shashi arranged chicken & beer...and I carried some thrilling movies. We consumed beer and ate that yummy chicken curry from paradise bar (not hyderabad paradise)watched 'Pandorum' movie. After a sound 10 hour sleep we are all set to leave to beach located at Bapatla. On the way we had Guntur's famous breakfast (Nethi Idli & pesarattu). After a joyful ride in between andhra scenic beauty we reached Bapatla at 12:30 PM. From Bapatla we have to go to the beach which is just 9 KM away and it is called 'Suryalanka'. In a matter of minutes we were seeing wonderful water of 'Bay of Bengal'. As it was the last week of 'Sravana Masam' more people are trying to have a holy dip in the sea. Along the sea we travelled one more KM where it was literally silent and we can listen only noise of waves. This is one of the best virgin beach as the security is minimum and nobody bothers you (ex Ice cream vendors etc). After a couple of hours of enjoying the beauty and shuttering the camera....we left to Guntur. So people next time when you plan for Surya Lanka beach....prefer to go with a bunch of friends so that you can have wonderful time playing beach cricket :)

Coming to today's movie....I cameup with one of the most inspiring movie of all time called 'Rudy'. Why this movie has become the most inspiring one...lets see

Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger grows up in Joliet, Illinois, dreaming of playing college football at the University of Notre Dame. While achieving some success with his local high school football team (Joliet Catholic), Ruettiger lacks the grades and money to attend Notre Dame, not to mention talent and physical size. (The real Ruettiger was only 5'6" (1.67 m) and the film's fictional Rudy appears to be even smaller.)

Rudy takes a job at a local steel mill where his father Daniel Ruettiger, Sr. (a huge Notre Dame fan) works and he prepares to settle down. But when his best friend Pete is killed in an explosion at the mill, Rudy decides to follow his dream of attending Notre Dame and playing college football for the Fighting Irish.

He leaves for the Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Indiana against his blue collar father's warning that "Ruettigers don't belong at college." Rudy fails to get admitted to Notre Dame, but on the advice of a priest, Father Cavanaugh, he goes to a small junior college nearby, Holy Cross College, hoping to qualify for a transfer to the university. He also manages to get a part-time job on Notre Dame's groundskeeping staff to help pay his tuition.

During his final semester of transfer eligibility, Rudy is granted admission to Notre Dame. After "walking on" as a non-scholarship player for the football team, Ruettiger convinces coach Ara Parseghian to give him a spot on the practice (or "scout") squad. Rudy soon exhibits more drive and desire than some of his scholarship teammates.

Parseghian agrees to Rudy's request to suit up for just one game in his senior year so his family and friends can see him as a genuine member of the team. But to the student's dismay, Parseghian steps down as coach following the 1974 season.

As per Vish: A MUST WATCH MOVIE for all genre lovers...especially Drama lovers. 'Sean Astin' as Rudy has done some wonderful job....he is just superb. This movie stands tall in many favorites list....now even in my list too. So people have a wonderful Sunday...enjoy the movie :)

Lagaan:Once Upon a Time in India

Hello people I hope you all had are having a great weekend. Yesterday was a precious day for our website as it celebrated 3rd successful year :) Happy Bday to SecondShow happy birthday to you....

So on this wonderful occasion I want to present a wonderful movie which made all our Indians proud. It is none other than 'Lagaan:Once Upon a Time in India' which was produced against all odds.....with few known star cast....high technical crew....exceptional music. Lets see what made this outstanding movie to give thumbs up by the world audience....

Lagaan takes place in the town of Champaner, Central India during the height of the British Empire in India in 1893. Captain Andrew Russell (Paul Blackthorne), the commanding officer of the Champaner cantonment, has imposed high taxes ("lagaan") on people from the local villages which they will be unable to pay due to a prolonged drought. Led by Bhuvan (Aamir Khan), they beg Raja Puran Singh (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) to help them. He tells them that much to his regret, he is also bound by British law.

It is after their visit to the Raja that the people of the village first witness a cricket match. Bhuvan mocks the game and gets into a fight with one of the British officers. Taking an instant dislike to Bhuvan, Russell offers to cancel the taxes of the whole province for three years if the villagers can beat his men in a game of cricket. If the villagers lose, however, they will have to pay three times the amount of their normal taxes. Bhuvan accepts this wager on the behalf of all villages without their consent. When the other villagers find out about the bet, they are furious with Bhuvan. He argues that it is important for everyone to fight against British rule.

Bhuvan thus begins to prepare the villagers for the match. He is aided in his efforts by Russell's sister Elizabeth (Rachel Shelley) who feels that her brother has mistreated the people in the villages. As she teaches them the rules of the game, she falls in love with Bhuvan, much to the anguish of Gauri (Gracy Singh) who is also in love with him. After Bhuvan reassures Gauri of his feelings for her, the woodcutter Lakha (Yashpal Sharma) becomes enraged as he is also in love with Gauri. In an attempt to discredit Bhuvan, Lakha offers himself as a spy for Russell and joins the villager's team in order to destroy it. Still short one player, Bhuvan also invites an untouchable, Kachra (Aditya Lakhia), who can bowl a leg spin. The villagers, conditioned by longterm prejudice against untouchables, refuse to play if Kachra joins the team. Bhuvan chastises the villagers, leading them to accept Kachra.

What happens now? Will our Bhuvan make the village Tax free? will Russell does any evil things to win the match?? will the whole village be behind Bhuvan?? to know all these secrets you have to pick this DVD.

As per Vish: A MUST WATCH movie for all kinds of movie lovers, especially drama genre lovers will have gala time watching this flick. Outstanding performances by all known and unknown actors....wonderful visuals....amazing music by Oscar winner A.R.Rahman...exceptional direction....cricket taking the center stage....and above all Aamir Khan starrer....what else you want to pick this DVD. The Rookie

Hello people I hope you all are doing great in your professional/personal life. It is very sad to think that when the other part of the world is building townships in sea...we are unable to build a proper flyover on land, Yeah I am talking about the same incident which left a cookie box to media the Delhi Metro Mishap. The most interesting news is...in our city (Hyderabad) sitaphal mandi Rail over bridge has been opened to public after almost 10 yrs of construction(Way to go!), thats the way our 'people's' government works! Ok full stopping on this topic, lets shift to another phase of my life called 'MOVIES'. Today I am coming up with yet another dramatic movie called 'The Rookie' which keeps you tagged till the end and leaves a great message, so lets start the show...

Jim Morris (played by Dennis Quaid) injured his shoulder 12 years before the movie's events begin, thereby putting an end to his pitching career in Minor League Baseball. Since the injury, he turns to a career as a chemistry teacher, head baseball coach, and assistant football coach at a Texas high school. His baseball team notes that they find it impossible to hit his pitching when he throws batting practice. Hoping for some degree of mutual motivation, his struggling charges offer him this agreement: if they reach the district playoffs, he will attend a tryout camp for Major League Baseball.

The team performs well and makes it to the playoffs, forcing Jimmy to meet his end of the bargain by attending a nearby tryout. When he does, the professional scouts discover his ability to repeatedly throw the baseball at 98 miles per hour, a feat that fewer than 10 professional baseball players at the time could accomplish.

wwwoww that is a nice feat, so will our Morris realize his specialty....will he ever become a professional rookie....and most importantly will his DREAM COME TRUE....to know these answers you have to watch this heart touching climax :)

As per Vish: A wonderful sports movie which accomplishes in all segments and treats to whole family. Dennis Quaid as Morris is superb and also his cute kid is worth a mention. So people keep your dreams alive till you live :)

Chariots of Fire

Hello people I hope you all are doing great and having fun at your work place, thank god all the political promotions has paused for a couple of days as the first phase of elections are about to begin tomorrow(16th Apr). Today I am gonna review about one of highly acclaimed 'English' movie called 'Chariots of Fire'. hmmm the title itself has some fire in it....so lets see whether the movie consists it or not....

The movie is based on the true story of two British athletes competing in the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. Englishman Harold Abrahams (Ben Cross), who is Jewish, overcomes anti-Semitism and class prejudice in order to compete against the "Flying Scotsman", Eric Liddell (Ian Charleson), in the 100 metre race.

In 1919, Abrahams enters Cambridge University. He attempts and succeeds at the Trinity Great Court run, which involves running around the court before the clock finishes striking 12. Meanwhile, Liddell sees running as a way of glorifying God before traveling to China to work as a missionary. He represents Scotland against Ireland, and preaches a sermon on "Life as a race" afterwards.

At their first meeting, Liddell shakes Abrahams' hand to wish him well, then beats him in a race. Abrahams takes it badly, but Sam Mussabini (Ian Holm), a professional trainer who was introduced to him by Liddell that he had approached earlier, offers to take him on to improve his technique. However, this attracts criticism from the college authorities because they are not sympathetic to a Jewish student representing the college. They allege it is against the rules for an amateur athlete seeking to compete in the Olympics to use professional help, but Abrahams, knowing that is cover for their anti-Semitism, dismisses their concern.

Eric's sister Jennie (Cheryl Campbell) worries he is too busy running to concern himself with their mission, but Eric tells her he feels inspired: "I believe that God made me for a purpose... (the mission), but He also made me fast, and when I run, I feel His pleasure."

hmmmm what a wonderful phrase...I guess this works for everyone... I mean there is a purpose of our creation...god created everyone of us for some sort of purpose all we need to do is find that purpose ASAP and work to become master in it :) ok coming back to our movie...will our both heroes become real heroes or not is the remaining climax.

As per Vish: As it is a bio-historic-drama you cant expect stuff other than reality....and this film highly succeeds in that way. A very good inspirational movie with good BG music and performances. So people lets takes this 'Chariots of Fire'. And last but not least....lets VOTE for our better future :)

Hello people I hope you all had fun last weekend with toys! I mean with 'Toy Story'. Today lets play a different game...a race game...a horse race. Yeah! you guessed it right today I am coming up with a horse race movie which is called 'Seabiscuit', so lets start the race...

This is the story about 3 men... media-savvy novice buyer Charles Howard (Jeff Bridges, K-PAX), pugnacious, overgrown jockey Red Pollard (Tobey Maguire, Spider-Man), and eccentric old cowboy and horse trainer Tom Smith (Chris Cooper, Adaptation). These men are struggling in their own personal/professional lives

The story of Seabiscuit’s rehabilitation is also a story of second chances for these three men, each of whom reclaims something of himself as a result of his involvement with Seabiscuit. For Howard, a man whose involvement with automobiles once led him to say "I wouldn’t pay five dollars for the best horse in America" before his life was shattered by a grimly ironic tragedy, both the troubled horse and the troubled young jockey represent an opportunity to make up for something missing in his life. For Red Pollard, a gifted rider who was abandoned by his parents at a young age after his family was ruined by the Depression, Howard is a kind of father figure and the horse an equine alter ego. As for Smith, the taciturn cowboy trainer whose world is fast vanishing before the industrial progress represented by Howard’s automobiles, helping to turn a washed-up, broken-down track horse into a champion is a vindication of his life’s work.

As Howard, a wealthy automobile entrepreneur, breezily puts it in a self-promoting whistle-stop press conference: "What are [the competition] afraid of? Our horse is too small… our jockey is too big… our trainer is too old… and I’m too dumb to know the difference!" Yet when that oversized jockey and that undersized horse face off against larger horses and smaller jockeys..! lol sounds funny right...but will this impossible becomes possible or not is the one which you need to know after getting the DVD.

As per Vish: One of the beautiful sport genre movie I have seen. Though this one has Racing as its backbone it tells multiple stories like...how a single seabiscuit brought the smiles on 3 loosers. And the way the three loosers fight back in their second chance. So people a must watch movie for all....have a nice viewing :)

Miracle

Heeey people I hope you all had a great week and praying for the best weekend. Me too...watching some great movies these days. Today I cameup with yet another sport movie called 'Miracle'. This tells the story about a bunch of hockey players who dreamt being World's No.1 Ice Hockey team...and the way they achieved it. So lets start the game...

The movie chronicles the journey of the 1980 US Olympic Men's ice hockey team. Then University of Minnesota head coach Herb Brooks (played by Kurt Russell) interviews with the United States Olympic Committee, discussing his philosophy on how to beat the Soviet team, calling for changes to the practice schedule and strategy. Despite the committee's skepticism about his goals, Brooks is hired.

Brooks meets his assistant coach Craig Patrick at the tryouts in Colorado Springs. However, Brooks selects a preliminary roster of 26 -- later to be cut to a final roster of 20 -- indifferent of the tryouts and the preferences of senior USOC hockey officials. He convinces Walter Bush, the executive director of the committee that he has their best interests at heart. Bush agrees to take the heat from the committee, saying, "I'll back you up on this one."

During the initial practice, tempers flare as forward Rob McClanahan and defenseman Jack O'Callahan get into a fight based on an old college rivalry. Brooks bluntly tells the players that they are to let go of old rivalries and start becoming a team. He then calls for introductions, in which each player states his name, his hometown, and for whom he plays.

The coach starts the team on an exhausting conditioning drill (which became known as "Herbies"), in which the team sprints together back and forth across the ice, over and over.

During an exhibition game against the Norwegian National Team in Oslo that ends in a 3–3 tie, Brooks notices the players are distracted by pretty girls in the stands and not playing up to their potential. After the game, in a wrenching scene, he makes them run "Herbies" far into the night. Finally exhausted forward Mike Eruzione shouts, "Mike Eruzione, (from) Winthrop, Massachusetts;" when Brooks asks him "Who do you play for?," Eruzione responds with the answer that Herb had wanted all along, "I play for the United States of America!" and the drill is over.

The team plays the Soviets in an exhibition game at Madison Square Garden. The Russians manhandle the young American team, winning by a score of 10-3. During the game, O'Callahan receives an injury that could keep him out of the entire Olympics, and starting goaltender Jim Craig is told he may be benched in favor of back-up goalie Steve Janaszak. Craig ends up retaining his starting job when the coach brings him to realize that he hasn't been giving his very best.

What happens next....will Jim Craig plays his best or not...will OC comebacks or not...will they ever win against World No.1 Russia....will they ever win the grand Onlympics....is the remaining interesting climax.

As per Vish: A must watch for sport movie lovers. Even If you dont know anything about Ice Hockey you can enjoy the spirit and emotions of the team. Kurt Russell as coach has done an outstanding job, So for this weekend people lets watch Ice Hockey @ Olympics :)

Slumdog Millionaire

Hello people I hope you all had a great saturday and hoping for the best sunday :) sunday is always a special for us as we used to watch different programmes only on that day, like 'Ramayan','Mahabharath','Jungle Book','Malgudi Days' etc but this trend has been thrashed by one programme called 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' which telecasted at 9PM and became a trendsetter. Actually KBC became the most viewed event after Cricket. Imagine if a movie is made with KBC as a backdrop ...hmmmm sounds interesting and exiting right, this idea made 'Vikas Swarup' to write a book called 'Q&A' and which further impressed 'Danny Boyle' and hence came one of the best movie of all time called 'SlumDog Millionaire'. So lets start the show....

Jamal Malik, a former street child from Mumbai, is being interrogated by the police. He is a contestant on Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? , and has made it to the final question but has been accused of cheating.

The explanation of how he knew the answers leads us through the history of his short but full life, including scenes of obtaining the autograph of a famous Bollywood star (Amitabh Bachchan); the death of his mother during an anti-Muslim riot in the slums; and how he and his brother Salim befriended an orphaned girl, Latika. Jamal refers to Salim and himself as Athos and Porthos, and Latika as the third Musketeer, whose name they do not know, not having read far enough in the book.

Living on the trash heaps, they are discovered by Maman, a gangster who runs an orphanage and then uses the children to beg and bring in money. Salim is groomed to become a part of Maman’s operation, and is tasked to bring Jamal so he can be blinded to improve his income potential as a blind singer. Salim rebels against Maman to protect his brother, and the three children try to escape, but only Salim and Jamal are successful. Latika is re-captured by Maman's organization and raised as a culturally talented prostitute whose virginity will fetch a high price.

The brothers eke out a living, traveling on top of trains, selling goods, pretending to be tour guides at the Taj Mahal, and pickpocketing. Jamal eventually insists that they return to Mumbai since he wishes to locate Latika. When he finds her working as a dancer in a brothel, the brothers attempt to rescue her, but Maman intrudes, and in the resulting conflict Salim draws a gun and kills Maman. Salim then uses the fact that he killed Maman to obtain a job with Javed, a rival crime lord. Salim claims Latika as his own, and when Jamal protests, Salim threatens to kill him and Latika intervenes, accepting her fate with Salim.

Years later, Jamal is working as an assistant in a call center, serving tea to the employees. When he is asked to cover for a co-worker for a couple of minutes, he searches the database for Salim and Latika. He gets in touch with Salim, who has become a high-ranking lieutenant in Javed’s organization. Salim invites Jamal to live with him and, after following Salim to Javed's house, he sees Latika living there. He talks his way in as the new dishwasher and tries to convince Latika to leave. She rebukes his advances, but he promises to be at the train station every day at 5 p.m.

Will Latika comes to the station....will Jamal able to take her out of city...what happens to his brother Salim....and most importantly will Jamal aka a 'Slumdog' becomes the 'Millionaire' is the remaining superduper climax.

As per Vish: No doubt this one is worth more than an Oscar. Nobody has shown mumbai as beautiful and as realistic as Danny has showed. Rahman is in top most form, he has given nothing but the best score ever. Coming to the performances everyone has given their best. Go watch it or get the DVD ASAP to make this sunday a precious one :)

Million Dollar Baby

Hello people I can see that you all are hoping for the best weekend. Me too...minus terrorist attacks,minus usual movies in Idiot box and all... If you find anything boring in life just dont worry come to IIndshow which promises the best movies in hollywood. And today I am gonna present you one of those best movie ever made called 'Million Dollar Baby'. So lets know about this Million Dollar Baby....

Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank), a female amateur who aspires to prove herself by becoming a successful boxer, is reluctantly taken on by Frank Dunn (Clint Eastwood), a down-and-out boxing trainer who has been cast aside by his colleagues and relatives, including his estranged daughter, Katy. Dunn helps Maggie realize her goal while developing a stronger-than-blood bond with her. Initially, Dunn's attitude towards Maggie is indifferent, because she is female and already 32 years old. Maggie, however, perseveres in her attempts to win Dunn's favor by training each day in his gym, even when others discourage her. Frank's friend and employee, ex-boxer Eddie "Scrap Iron" Dupris (Morgan Freeman) narrates the story in non-dialogue scenes.

Dunn writes to his estranged daughter every week but receives no replies. Dunn's priest cannot fathom why Katy wouldn't respond and instead doubts Dunn's claims that he writes to her. Dunn himself, lacking a close relationship with his daughter, establishes a strong one with Maggie, whose own family cares little for her well-being, despite her best efforts to help them. Dunn coaches Maggie and manages her professional career. With his expert help, she fights her way up to the women's welterweight boxing division, and eventually ranks high enough for a match in Las Vegas against the WBA women's welterweight champion, Billie the Blue Bear (played by real life boxer Lucia Rijker), who is known to get away with committing fouls.

During the match, an illegal attack by Billie causes Maggie to hit her head and neck on her corner stool, which the frantic Dunn is unable to move out of the way in time. As a result, Maggie is paralyzed from the neck down, and Billie apparently retains the championship with no police charge. Dunn, venting his rage at the injustice, initially blames Dupris for convincing him to train her, but in the end blames himself for having worked with her against his better judgment.

What happens next will our Million Dollar Baby enters into the ring once again or not...what happens to our super coach is the remaining heart touching climax.

As per Vish: This movie caters strictly and only to Drama lovers... actually anyone can watch it but only few can enjoy it...I enjoyed it as I love all kinds of movies. And I hope this movie works like a chill pill for the weekend. Super performances by all the actors makes this movie worth a watch. So have a nice weekend with this 'Million Dollar Baby'.
